After 1930: new regulations

The constitutions issued in 1930 by the Augustinian Order, affecting all the nuns of the Order, introduced some variations and innovations.
The outside habit was still black, but the scapular was replaced by long full sleeves reaching to the knees; the domestic habit was white with a white scapular. Another innovative component was the white linen throat-band which wrapped around the entire chest. The throat-band and veil were black for the choristers, and white for the novices and converse.

Vatican Council II brought changes also in the dress of Augustinian nuns, both in Italy and abroad. In 1973, Italian Augustinian nuns began wearing a totally black habit which was the same for all convents, with a white collar in place of the throat-band.
