The Baptism of Christ was illustrated by Stefano Volpi around the first half of the seventeenth century. The canvas, now in the fourth chapel in the left transept, shows John the Baptist in the act of ministering to Christ the sacrament of baptism, the most important one because it decrees the person’s entrance into the Christian community.
